Gifts & Challenges Exchange - caregiver conversations and support for those supporting adults with Down syndrome age 30+.
NDSC will host monthly family engagement sessions for parents and caregivers of adults with Down syndrome 30 and older. These sessions will feature facilitated group discussions led by Dr. Dennis McGuire and other guest professional experts, covering a range of relevant topics. Each session will emphasize shared conversation and peer support.
This group started in the Fall of 2025 as a way for parents and other caregivers to exchange information that is pertinent to their child with Down syndrome ages 30+. Since September 2025, we have hosted 5 conversational sessions over Zoom.
In 2026 (each session is scheduled for 2 hours):
Wednesday March 25 - 1pm EST (Dr. Dennis McGuire)
Tuesday April 14 - 7pm EST (Joan Guthrie Medlen, Med, RDN on nutrition)
Thursday May 21 - 1pm EST (Terri Couwenhoven, MS, CSE on friendships)
Wednesday June24 - 1pm EST (Dr. Dennis McGuire)
