NDAC Terms of Membership
NDSC welcomes individual advocates of all abilities and advocacy experience levels to become NDAC Members. NDSC also invites organizations at the local, state, or national level including Down syndrome-specific groups, cross-disability organizations, other disability-focused groups and allied organizations to join NDAC.
Membership Requirements
NDAC Members must agree to these NDAC Terms of Membership and fill out an NDAC Member Application. For NDAC members who are representing groups, each group shall designate a single group representative to serve as the liaison between the group and NDAC. Other people affiliated with that group are welcome to join NDAC as individual members but must join separately. There is no fee to join NDAC.
Commitment to Courtesy and Bipartisanship
All NDAC members are expected to uphold the highest standards of courtesy, professionalism, and respect in all interactions. This includes engagements with fellow NDAC members, the NDSC Policy & Advocacy Team, elected officials and their staff, and the broader community. Whether communicating via social media, emails, phone calls, in-person meetings, or other channels, members must maintain a constructive and respectful tone. Additionally, NDAC members shall advocate in a bipartisan manner, fostering collaboration and inclusiveness in all advocacy efforts.
Removal and Resignation
NDSC can, in its discretion, remove an NDAC Member if NDSC does not believe that the member is following these guidelines or representing NDAC in a courteous, professional, respectful, or bipartisan manner. NDSC will provide written notice of such removal.
NDAC Members may resign from NDAC at any time and for any reason by providing written notice to the NDSC Policy & Advocacy team by emailing policy@ndsccenter.org.
Volunteer Status and Term
NDAC Members are volunteers who will not receive financial or in-kind compensation from NDSC for their advocacy efforts. NDAC membership will continue indefinitely unless an NDAC Member is removed by NDSC or resigns.
NDAC Facebook Group All NDAC Members may join NDAC’s closed Facebook group. The administrators of this group are NDSC’s Policy Team staff. The NDAC Facebook group is intended to be a forum where NDAC Members and the NDSC Policy Team can interact, share resources and content, and strategize. NDAC Members are expected to maintain the private and confidential nature of the NDAC Facebook Group.
