- What is the Youth & Adult (Y&A) portion of the conference?
The Y&A portion of the conference is designed specifically for individuals with Down syndrome ages 15 and older. It focuses on self-advocacy, independence, social engagement, and personal development through interactive workshops, activities, and networking opportunities. - Who can attend the Y&A sessions?
These sessions are exclusively for individuals with Down syndrome ages 15 and older. Parents and caregivers will not attend these sessions but are welcome to participate in other conference programming. However, a support person can attend if needed. Please contact ofinn@ndsccenter.org for more information. - How do I register?
Registration can be completed online at ndsccenter.org - What types of activities will be offered?
The Y&A sessions are designed to be engaging, interactive, and fun! - Will there be breaks and social time?
Yes! The schedule includes breaks, social time, and opportunities to connect with friends. - What should I bring?
We recommend bringing:- Comfortable clothing and walking shoes
- A water bottle
- Any necessary personal or medical items
- A notebook or tablet for notes
- Will food be provided?
There will not be food served during workshop times. However, participants have the option to opt into a meal plan when registering. - What happens during lunch?
There will be a designated lunch break during the day. The Y&A dismissal policy will apply for the lunch break. - Can participants bring their own snacks or drinks?
Yes, participants are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks if needed. However, please be aware of allergies. We ask all participants not to share their food. - Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the venue is fully accessible, including ramps, elevators, and accessible restrooms. - Will there be ASL interpreters or other accommodations?
We will do our best to accommodate attendees' needs. Please note accommodations that are needed during registration. - Can I bring my service animal?
Yes, service animals are welcome. - I’m attending for the first time. What should I expect?
Expect a welcoming and inclusive environment! The Y&A sessions are designed to be engaging, educational, and social. Volunteers and staff will be available to guide and support you throughout the day. - Will there be someone to help answer my questions on the day of the event?
Yes! Staff and volunteers will be available to assist you. For questions leading up to the Y&A conference, email ofinn@ndsccenter.org - What is the Celebration Dinner?
An evening to celebrate the connections you've made, the knowledge you've gained, and most importantly, people with Down syndrome. Enjoy a buffet dinner and family-friendly entertainment. - Do I have to attend the Celebration dinner?
No, the Celebration Dinner is optional. If you’d like to attend, you must opt in and pay during registration. - Who can attend the dance?
The dance is open to all Y&A participants. It is included as part of the Y&A registration, so no extra payment is required. - Can parents or caregivers attend the Y&A sessions?
No, the Y&A sessions are only for individuals with Down syndrome ages 15 and older. Parents and caregivers can attend other parts of the conference. However, if the participant is coming with a support person, please contact ofinn@ndsccenter.org - Will there be supervision?
Yes, trained staff and volunteers will be present throughout the Y&A sessions to provide support and ensure a safe and fun experience. Participants are grouped by age and in “cohorts” of 10. That cohort has the same schedule, and all attend the same session with a 1-2 volunteers per cohort. - Who can I contact if I have more questions?
