About Kids Camp: Camp is a dedicated program within the National Down Syndrome Convention designed for children both with and without Down syndrome. It provides a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can have fun, build friendships, and participate in meaningful activities while their parents and caregivers attend Convention workshops and presentations. Children will be grouped into classrooms, each supported by a lead teacher and volunteers who will assist with the individual needs of participants. Kids Camp will take place throughout Convention weekend, July 16–18, and will include five sessions:
- Friday morning
- Friday afternoon
- Saturday morning
- Saturday afternoon
- Sunday morning
Activity Leader Opportunities: We are seeking individuals or groups who would like to lead a fun, engaging activity for Kids Camp participants. Activity leaders will facilitate an approximately 30-minute activity and rotate between classrooms during an entire session. Each session is approximately 3–5 hours long. Activities can be tailored to your interests, talents, or area of expertise. Examples include:
- Sing-alongs or music activities
- Arts and crafts
- Sports or movement-based activities
- Games
- Read-alouds or storytelling
- Science or educational activities
- Dance
- Other fun, interactive experiences
Leading an activity is a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to something new, encourage creativity and participation, and help make their Kids Camp experience memorable. Individuals, families, community groups, organizations, and other teams are all welcome to participate. You may volunteer for one session or multiple sessions, depending on your availability.
