Announcement of 2020 Convention Cancellation

After careful consideration, and in response to guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the NDSC Board of Directors and staff have made the difficult decision to cancel the 48th  Annual NDSC Convention, scheduled June 25-28, 2020, at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, due to risks associated with COVID-19.

Although we are heartbroken over the decision, the health and safety of our attendees, sponsors, vendors, speakers, volunteers, and staff are our top priority. With many health-related concerns, the financial uncertainty many are facing, and the uncertainty of the longevity and other effects related to the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, we felt it was best to err on the side of caution and announce the cancellation of our in-person 2020 Convention at this time. While we are disappointed that we will miss our time together, we believe this is the most responsible decision for the organization and our families.

Bringing the resources to families is still our top priority.  At this time, we are considering alternative formats that will provide members access to the essential resources and information they are accustomed to receiving each year at the NDSC Convention. Nothing will replace bringing thousands of people from across the globe together, but we are committed in these unparalleled times to finding a solution that will allow us to provide needed information and to bring the Down syndrome community together.

We will continue to keep you updated as plans evolve and hope that you will keep the weekend of June 25– 28 open on your calendars. Please look to our website at  NDSCCenter.org, NDSC social media sites,  and your email inbox for updates and practical resources.
